Ryan speaks for the Bloggers of Jared when he says they are irritated by all the less-than-faithful Nacle questioners, and they therefore are going to carve out their own little niche of faithful orthodoxy. Apparently thay have either not been reading the Millennial Black Hole (now with more added extra super Jeff Lindsey apologetic orthodoxy), or they think supernova is imminent enough to ignore them (come on, who doesn't?). And, apparently, they haven't been reading Redelf's Iron Rod either. Or, these guys just aren't orthodox enough for them. It would be hard to be more orthodox than John W, I mean the guy probably uses a first edition autographed Mormon Doctrine as a pillow at night.

P.S., nice out-of-context use of a Norman Rockwell painting there, Ryan. He isn't using the magnifying glass to find fault, he is using it to determine the master painter's technique. Kind of ironic, actually. You see, the "Art Critic" is actually the Dutch Burghers in the painting behind the boy, staring down in contempt at the seemingly impudent novice painter who would dare to attempt to reproduce a master's handiwork. Note the painter has a palette and picture of the original to work from, and the girl in the portrait looks approvingly upon the aspiring artist who is going to paint her again.

touche and not-so-touche

It was pretty asinine of me to suggest that conservative blogging is limited only to us and I actually have visited the sites you mention and will be more than happy to make amends...

As for the picture, I posted it based solely on what I saw in the picture. Unless the world of art has changed dramatically since my last encounter, my understanding is that we are all allowed to take what we will from a piece. Thanks for correcting my opinion though. :)

And thanks for the snark. As Wade mentioned before when he was snarked, it gives one a twisted sense of pride...such a strange thing...

...not to mention a lot more site traffic.

Just for the record, Iron Rod and M* approach "orthodoxy" quite differently.

M* is far less in the Joseph Fielding Smith/Bruce R. McConkie style of "orthodoxy" and more in the David O. McKay/BH Roberts school.

You can call it the Millenial Black Hole but with all the defectors from T&S that statred the thing I call it the "Reorganized Blog."

You mean the defectors from T&S who don't actually post there? (And if they do, they cross-post.)

The Defectors, aren't they a splinter group off the Legion of Doom?

I'm confused. Is anonymous saying that M* advocates belief in pre-Adamites and harbors serious doubts about the Book of Mormon?

Personally I have a special love for BHR having grown up about 50 feet from his house. Well, as least the one that he lived in with wife #1.

I really appreciate the suggestion that I sleep with a First Edition of MORMON DOCTRINE as my pillow at night. I wish... Truth is, the cost of a First Edition has gotten so high in the collector's book market that I cannot afford one.

If anyone can suggest a way for me to be more orthodox in the tradition of Joseph Fielding Smith and Bruce R. McConkie, I hope they will point it out to me. I am constantly striving to be of "one mind and one heart" with the prophets of God. As long as I am going to do this Mormon thing, I might as well do it to the max.
