Those darn kids at FPR might be trying hard to be scholarly, but they sure cannot write fiction or steer clear of pop trends in religion.

Apparently Ms. Mogget recently ran into a gal who had lately married an insensitive boor. Mrs. Newlywed hurt her back and Mr. Newlywed did not care, because he wanted to attend the Stake Temple Day, so he gave her a Priesthood blessing and then told her faith should see her through it and provide her with a learning experience. Apparently what Ms. Newlywed really learned was her husband needs a boot to the head and some alone time in the dog house.

Now, somehow, this learning experience has gone well beyond the blessing's recipient and has taught Mogget, lxxluthor and David J that Heavenly Mother shouldn't defer to her son's, Elohim's (apparently our HF), decision making out of deference to his Priesthood? And, naturally, that means the LDS Church ought to give women the Priesthood (because one guy is making D&C 121:39 a literal reality?). These kids might know their Koine Greek, but they sure don't get the whole logic thing. Shoe-horning your political agenda into an blaring example of isolated stupidity makes about as much sense as the Bloggernacle now wholesale rejecting all graduate students in theology from among its ranks as a result of some of them taking one bad example and using that as an excuse to steady the ark, FMH style.

You rascally, lovable FPR kids, how about you go back to your Biblical exegesis and leave leading the Church to those who actually know what they are doing? Sorry, but one jerk does not a policy make, nor does it make ecclesiastical polity subject to the vox populi.

So Snarkimus, do you think any the general authorities should be responsible or held accountable for accurate biblical exegesis?

Who should fill the vacuum?

You, Todd Wood, should fill the vacuum. You, Todd Wood, are the herald of truth and light to Mormondom, and should shed forth your accurate biblical exegesis to the benighted masses...by trolling the Bloggernacle... and threadjacking... and generally acting like an unwelcomed guest.

I guess this is the answer to be expected on snarkernacle. . .

Sarcasm dodging honest questions.

Or to be more specific . . . answers to be expected from Snarkimus Prime to Todd Wood.

Todd,

Anyone who comes to the SnarkerNacle and asks Snarkimus Prime a serious question is asking for...let me guess... oh, wait for it... YES, a snarky answer. Hence the name.

Todd, the job of the LDS General Authorities is not to hand out "accurate biblical exegesis" it is to get people to repent and follow the teaching and example of Jesus Christ. In other words, to be special witnesses for Jesus Christ. Not to bible bash with anti-mormon trolls like you. How is that for a serious answer? Show me where in the Scriptures Jesus taught that the way to the kingdom of Heaven was accurate biblical exegesis. Oh, it doesn't? OK. So, we will just have to keep the commandments and repent instead, like Jesus told us to. If anyone will do his will, they will know the doctrine. Thanks for asking the question, Todd.

"accurate biblical exegesis" -- I've been reading "Misquoting Jesus" and guess I need to type up my post on a sub-topic.

I assume Todd makes a point of making sure that everyone knows that the trinity affirming verses in the New Testament are all later additions and that the doctrine is a graft? I presume that is the sort of thing he means by "accurate biblical exegesis" -- and -- surprise -- you will get that from G.A.s.

That was his point, wasn't it?

Snarkimus, your last post is more helpful. Thanks.

But didn't Jesus say, search the scriptures . . .

Stephen, I have read the book. Which trinity affirming verses have I used on HI4LDS that you consider a foreign addition for true revelation about God?

Snarkimus Prime said... @ April 20, 2007 at 3:38 AM

Jesus said to search the scriptures because they testify of himself. He didnt say that your salvation was dependent upon accurate biblical exegesis. He said it was dependent upon your faith in him and your actually keeping his teachings, in other words, keeping the commandments. Nowhere is accurate or correct biblical exegesis forwarded as a prerequisite to salvation.

And guess what, Todd, Peter made mistakes in exegesis, and was corrected for it by Paul, and that didn't impeach him as the leader of the ancient Church, did it? Nope. So, Todd, how about you stop picking at the motes in the Mormon's eyes, huh?

That is only true for those who believe the Bible. Some people appear to chose not to believe the true witnesses.
