FMH has been embroiled in a controversy over... sexism? ... racism? ... child abuse? ... wife beating? ... Poop? ... No, none of these. What then? Nursery. Um, yes, Nursery. You know, that two hour block of time the pre-Primary toddlers go into once a week on Sunday, so their parents can hopefully participate in other church-related activities. The battle over Waldorf-style Nurseries was caustic, with Artemis being variously attacked and defended for wanting things a particular way in Nursery. It got so bad she followed up with another blog post defending herself, going to great lengths to show how normal and pedestrian she is, not at all a Al Gore-hugging, elitist Europhile. This racks up a combined total of 300+ comments.
Gordon Bitner Hinckley commemorative post: ~30 comments.
Order of magnitude difference there.
FMH, where Primary Pinecones beat out Prophets Passing 10:1

At least the comment in the GBH post were favorable and respectful. Given the number of DAMUites there, I was expecting some negative or neutral statements.
As usual, this is in bad taste. Using the Prophet's death to score some cheap shot against your enemies?
Invalid snark. The only ways the FMH thread on President Hinckley could have reached 300 comments are (1) getting into a petty back and forth argument (President Hinckley was wonderful because he allowed his grandchildren to play with plastic toys, ergo...) or (2) attract comments from 300 different readers (do they even have that many?).
Latest anonymous,
Pointing out that FMHers would rather insanely rant about Primary than contribute substantive rememberances to a memorial post by a factor of 10x?
How is that bad taste and using the Prophet's death? It isn't. It is pointing out FMHers care more about contention then remembering President Hinckley.
So, anonymous, which commentor were you in the FMH tirade? Were you pro or anti-Artemis?
I didn't even read it. I could care less about it, but counting comments seems like a pretty low blow. Are you going to count the comments on Mormon Mentality's welfare thread? T&S's SSM posts? BCC's firestorm threads? Are these really the true key to knowing who really cares about GBH? C'mon, trading on the Prophet's death is about as low as you've ever gone.
OK, anonymous, you are so right, all those jokes I made about GBH dying, and all of those puns about death were really too much. Gee, I apologize for going so low. Will you ever forgive me? No? Oh, I am so crushed by your irrelevant criticisms that make little or no sense and only expose how poor your grasp of reality is. How about you berate me for running over puppies, stealing lollipops from babies and being profane in front of old women next? That makes about as much sense as what you are saying now.
Look, let me explain this to you, since you obviously don't get it. There are two posts on FMH following each other. One stupid (i.e., the Pinecones in Primary post), one serious (i.e., the Gorden B. Hinckley Memoriam post). One gets a lot of traffic and comments, and one gets very little. What does that say about FMH readers? It says they prefer stupid arguments about irrelevant nonsense instead of serious stuff, like the GBH Memorial. Get it? Nobody is trading on the Prophet's death. I am trading on the overwhelmingly obvious fact that FMHers love idiotic contention more than serious topics.
Which is pretty much what your comments also prove.
You can read how many comments a post is getting, but not how much traffic a post gets.
I did comment on the Waldorf post. I've read twenty or more posts about GBH's passing, including the one on FMH, but not felt the need to comment on any of them. My lack of comment doesn't mean I don't feel deeply about the passing of Gordon B. Hinckley.
What a snark misfire.
So that's what happened to my lollipop!
In fairness, my memorial post wasn't really the type to garner comments. I didn't request memories, and the poem itself is quite bad (sincere, but bad). I'm really going to miss President Hinckley.
POOP!
Yikes, You should listen to moi's "Beam A Poop" for all the (Darest moi speak it? Moi Darest.)
poop a la satire.
Stay on groovin' safari,

Anyhoo, have you noticed what a SNOOZEFEST FMH has become since that thread? I love it. Unless they're screeching at each other, they have nothing to say.
