AnneGB's pearls of wisdom are a breath of fresh air in the stale atmosphere of the Bloggernacle. And, you know "Be Prepared" is one of those things that we always need to be reminded of. So, when Anne sees the impending doom right before her eyes, she wants us all to be safe and well and makes some good suggestions :
- Get some water on hand and...put in some extra toothbrushes and soap and aluminum foil and paper plates in case you have to take in refugees
- store some coffee and cigarettes. During the holocaust these things were as good as gold to trade. Also light bulbs were a shortage.

Hey, Snarkette? Been to Utah lately? Most private clubs in Utah have two smoking sections- ultra and regular.
I just bought me some extra Marlboro's to use for trade. Never know when some jack Mormon or gentile will get the hankering for some 'fresh air'!
Instead of coffee, I recommend keeping some booze and regular beer on-hand. Utah serves that 3-2 crap. Ever tried singing '100 bottles of beer on the wall' using 3-2 beer? Takes an extra 50 beers or so just to get a decent buzz.
Jack,
When you see the Destroying Angel, do say "Hi" for me before he kicks your soul out of your body.
It is better just to store some oil. Now that was a comodity that was needed in the worst of times.
Jack Daniels smeared on the lintels of the door?
I don't know.
Sounds edgey to me.

Yeah, right... she's buying it to "trade with".... uh-huh.
If she wanted to keep her WOW problems to herself, she picked a goofed up way to do it.
Maybe this is a cry for help. We should have a coffee and cigarettes intervention.
Anyone know why Bryce I. is posting on annegb's blog??
Umm, because she asked me nicely?
Sorry if that sounded snarky, Tracy M. Even though this is snarkernacle. Really -- she asked nicely, so I posted.
Well, if an earthquake happens and I have my trusty 72 hour kit with cigarettes and coffee, and I'm evacuated to Vegas, I will be the richest person in the gym. And the most popular. Smokers will sell their children for a cigarette when times are bad. Not that I'd buy one.
Read jail stories and survival stories. They trade cigarettes for all kinds of stuff.
They still had electricity in places in the holocaust, but they ran out of light bulbs.
I'm just going from what I read.
And if I happen to puff one or two, that's between me and God.
Me and Bryce are buddies, you guys. Kind of like snarker and snarkette.
PS, You might be glad to know I check in here regularly, almost every day and I feel honored to have been snarked.
And I have to say, those of you who will be evacuated and have no cigarettes on you to trade for crackers will think, "dang, Annegb was right."
Apparently the wise man had his scotch upon the rocks.

some oil good point, along with honey -- I remember a conference talk where the speaker remarked that it brought a better exchange rate in times of starvation.
On the other hand, in my experience, sugar stores better than honey, though cocoa stores surprisingly well.
Reminds me of K rations and boy scouts.
But I didn't get to trade the cigarettes (which were a real surprise, as a kid I hadn't expected them), other scouts stole them, along with the toilet paper.
But, Annegb is right.
